Thailand’s GMMTV slammed online for making female stars kneel for group photo while the men stood behind (VIDEO)

BANGKOK, Nov 9 — What should have been a routine group photo sparked online controversy for Thailand production company and talent agency GMMTV.

At the TikTok Awards Thailand 2025 yesterday in Bangkok, GMMTV’s rookie girl group Felizz were made to kneel on the floor for a company group photo.

This was despite them wearing short dresses and heels, which would make the pose uncomfortable.

In contrast the male actors as well as mascots all stood behind them with the CEO Sathaporn Yoothaphum in the centre.

Videos taken at the scene depicted the girls’ initial hesitation and awkwardness at being directed to pose on their knees.

After photos and videos circulated online, there was widespread criticism, primarily on X (formerly Twitter).

While GMMTV deleted the original photo, it is still available online and GMMTV has not apologised for the incident instead posting another group photo that showed male talents kneeling.

However the girl group, though standing, was pushed to the side while the male talents were centred in the photo.

The backlash has continued with X users sharing videos of other events where male stars stopped women from kneeling or standing, instead taking their places to kneel as wearing pants, it would be easier for them than for women in short outfits.

One X user commented: “Women don’t kneel so men can stand. Women stand with men.”
