BTS member V drops cool RM43.3m in cash on Seoul’s swankiest pad

SEOUL, Sept 25 — BTS member V is making waves beyond the music charts with a jaw-dropping real estate move, South Korean media outlet Xportsnews reported today.

The K-pop superstar, whose real name is Kim Tae-hyung, has purchased a luxury apartment in one of Seoul’s most exclusive addresses — and paid for it entirely in cash.

According to property registration records cited by Xportsnews, V became the new owner of a unit in PH129 (The Penthouse Cheongdam), a prestigious residential complex in the affluent Cheongdam area of Gangnam District, for a cool 14.2 billion won (RM43.4 million).

The 273.96-square-metre duplex boasts five bedrooms and three bathrooms.

Records show no mortgage or collateral, signalling that the BTS vocalist completed the deal without taking out a loan — a rare feat even among Korea’s wealthiest celebrities.

Xportsnews noted that V signed the purchase contract in early May, roughly a month before his military discharge.

He officially took ownership on September 17, when the final payment was completed and the deed was transferred.

Completed in 2020, PH129 is one of Seoul’s most coveted residential properties, offering just 29 duplex units across six underground floors and 20 storeys above ground.

It is home to a roster of high-profile residents, including actors Jang Dong-gun and Ko So-young and golf champion Park In-bee .

Its prime location, strict privacy measures and limited number of residents have cemented its status as a symbol of wealth and exclusivity in Korea’s high-end property market.

Fans online have been buzzing over the news, with many pointing out that V’s all-cash purchase highlights his staggering financial clout and signals an exciting new chapter in his post-military life.

As Xportsnews added, the move comes as BTS prepares for a full-group comeback next year — giving fans even more reason to celebrate both his personal milestones and the group’s much-anticipated reunion.
