KUALA LUMPUR, May 21 — Indonesian action stars Joe Taslim and Yayan Ruhian will make a special appearance in Malaysia on June 6 and 7.
The visit coincides with the upcoming Malaysian release of The Furious, an action-crime thriller produced by Edko Films, XYZ Films and Zhejiang Hengdian Film Production.
The multilingual film — featuring English, Chinese and Thai dialogue — is set to hit cinemas nationwide on June 11.
Distributed by Antenna Entertainments, the official gala premiere on June 6 will be the highlight of the Malaysian tour, with both stars scheduled to meet local fans.
The Furious is directed by Kenji Tanigaki, known for his work on John Wick: Chapter 4 and the Rurouni Kenshin franchise, and has received praise since its debut.
Following its premiere at Toronto International Film Festival, the film gained global attention for its intense action sequences and performances.
It currently holds a 100 per cent score on Rotten Tomatoes, further building anticipation ahead of its release.
The story follows Wang Wei, played by Miao Xie, an ordinary man forced into the criminal underworld after his daughter is kidnapped.
Teaming up with Navin, a relentless journalist portrayed by Joe Taslim, he fights through waves of enemies in a desperate attempt to uncover the truth and save his loved ones.
Yayan Ruhian also stars as Tak, alongside Jeeja Yanin, Yang Enyou, Brian Le and Joey Iwanaga.
Support for Joe and Yayan has remained strong following their recent cinema projects.
Joe recently appeared in Mortal Kombat 2, which continues to generate excitement among fans.
Meanwhile, Yayan, who visited Kuala Lumpur last month for the gala premiere of Gayong 2, is currently filming Hunter Eleven: The Awaken.
More details on the Malaysian gala premiere of The Furious, including fan events, cinema listings and promotional appearances, will be announced through Antenna Entertainments official channels.
