KUALA LUMPUR, September 16 – Kuching-born singer Jessie Chung or better known now as JessC is busier than ever – and she loves it.
From having released three albums in Mandarin, Bahasa Malaysia and English in the first half of this year to selling out the Arena of Stars in Genting Highlands last May and to even winning an award at the InterContinental Music Awards 2025 for Best Asian Pop category for her song My Style.
Her Mandarin album My Style has achieved chart success in China, while her Bahasa Malaysia album Dekati sparked a “JessC Fever” in Indonesia.
And the multifaceted transgender artist who’s also a doctor, is not quite done yet as she is really looking forward to her second homecoming concert at Mega Star Arena in Sungei Wang Plaza this December 20.
More surprises await
JessC who’s currently based in Australia, admitted that the positive response from local fans during her May concert had prompted her to hold another concert here, which she promises will be more exciting than the previous ones.
Similarly to her Arena of Stars show where she showcased her skills on multiple musical instruments, for her December show, JessC will be playing up to five instruments throughout the show which includes instruments such as piano, organ, guitar and keyboards.
On top of that, she will also be joined by Malaysian pop diva Fauziah Latiff on stage as they both have a couple of songs together aside from presenting her own Butterfly Lovers stage play.
JessC also hints that she will also be bringing a couple of well-known local singers to join as guest artists for her next show.
“They are very good singers, that’s all I can say.
“What I can promise is that this concert will be more heartfelt and genuine than before. It will showcase a more complete side of JessC,” she told Malay Mail.
World tour, web series, podcast and.. a new label?

Aside from preparing for her upcoming concert – JessC has more than a few projects in her creative pipeline which includes a world tour, a new book, a web-series, new songs and albums along with a new podcast.
Following positive fan response, JessC felt compelled to keep putting out better music and which is why she is currently working on two albums with one of them focusing on her therapeutic music while the other will be a multilingual album which includes BM, English and Mandarin.
She is also gearing up for her My Style World Tour with her already set to perform in countries around the world including in China, US, Europe, Australia, Indonesia and Singapore and she and her team are also looking into locking dates for international music festivals as well.
And not just that, JessC will also be appearing in a web-series which will start shooting this October in Malaysia and she is also excited to launch her own podcast soon where she will share insights and researches on medicines, nutrition and music therapy.
When asked about her rebranding from Jessie Chung to JessC, the 49-year-old shared that it was a decision made by her current label Future Global Entertainment Australia (FGEA) as part of their marketing strategy.
JessC has been in the music industry since 1998 with her first signing to Symphony Musical House and then moved to Warner Music Malaysia before joining FGEA after 2016.
She revealed that she is currently in the process of signing with another big international label who has offered to further promote her songs in the US and Europe.
Malaysia will always be my home
Despite living in Australia for several years now, JessC admitted that her love for Malaysia remains the same.
“Malaysia will always be my home – it’s where my families, friends and childhood memories are and I must admit that Malaysian food is better than Australian food but what’s more interesting is the diversity of cultures in Malaysia.
“We are so different from each other but yet we can live harmoniously together.
“We can celebrate each other’s festivals and share all kinds of food at the same table,” JessC said.
She also said that despite her being a transgender and Malaysia being a Muslim country, she had always felt welcomed and safe whenever she’s back home.
“I’m so surprised and grateful actually– I was surprised that Malay singers still want to do a duet with me which is very touching, such as Fauziah Latiff who has been a really good friend to me.
“Also the press in Malaysia, especially the Malay press who has been so supportive of my works and they even came to my shows and even social media users are very supportive of me,” she said.
JessC is also actively promoting Malaysian cultures on international stages– for example her recent Satu Suara Raya music video which features her donning a baju kurung with a traditional kampung house backdrop is well received in countries such as Indonesia and Japan.
The music video currently has over 1.5 million views on Youtube and she is also planning to drop two more Hari Raya songs next year with one of them featuring Fauziah Latiff.
JessC’s keys to longevity
With all her packed schedules and projects – one question remains, how does she cope with all of these?
And her answer is– apart from doing daily exercises and keeping a healthy diet, JessC would often participate in table tennis and she is good at it – like really good.
She has played at several table tennis tournaments in Queensland and has won two golds, one silver and a bronze medal while she is also ranked number one in the 2024 Queensland Table Tennis Rankings for Women Over 30 category with 55 points.
She will also be representing the Queensland table tennis veteran team for another tournament this October – just before she began her training for her second homecoming concert.
“I would go into intensive training every day under three coaches – I would train for at least four hours a day and sometimes it could go up to six hours.
“I’m also on a team, a really good team and I think we have a pretty good chance to get gold this year,” she said.
JessC also keeps tabs on local table tennis teams, with her setting her sights on the 13-year-old aspiring Malaysian table tennis player Dania Elisha Mohd who recently struck gold at the Under-13 Girl’s Singles 2025 at the World Table Tennis Youth Contender Doha.
“We were in the same tournament before in Malaysia and she supported me when I played and I supported her as well.
“Now she is making waves internationally and it is just so lovely to see.
“I’m a fan of her and we should be very proud of her, she is doing things for Malaysia,” JessC said.
