SEOUL, Oct 3 — Twice member Jeongyeon may not perform at the group’s upcoming concerts in Malaysia and Singapore, following her sudden withdrawal from the Bulacan stop of their world tour.
JYP Entertainment announced yesterday via the group’s fan platform that Jeongyeon would not join the Twice ‘This is For’ World Tour concert in Bulacan, Philippines, scheduled for tomorrow, according to a report by The Korea Herald.
The agency confirmed her absence just two days before the show, citing health concerns as the reason for the decision.
“We cannot confirm whether Jeongyeon will appear at the Singaporean and Malaysian shows. What we can say for sure at the moment is that she will not be performing at the Bulacan show,” a JYP Entertainment official told The Korea Herald today.
“We sincerely apologise to fans who have been waiting for the concert for a long time. This was an unavoidable decision made with the artist’s health and recovery as our top priority,” the agency said in its statement.
Jeongyeon, 28, had performed at the group’s concert in Macao on September 27 and 28, and has been active in the sixth world tour since it began in Seoul on July 19.
She has performed in four Japanese cities and was present at most of the tour’s earlier stops, making her sudden absence a week after Macao a cause for concern among fans.
The singer has experienced ongoing health challenges in recent years, including surgery for a herniated disc in 2020 and a hiatus in 2021 following a panic disorder diagnosis.
She resumed activities with Twice in June 2022 but took another short break two months later due to side effects from steroid treatment and recurring symptoms of panic attacks.
