SEOUL, Oct 19 — W Korea apologised after days of backlash towards its breast cancer awareness charity event that was criticised for looking more like a party.
In an apology on its official website today, W Korea stated it was sorry for “failing to consider the perspectives of breast cancer patients and their families.”
The event was held on the October 15 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
With luxury brands as sponsors and around 90 celebrities, from actors to idols, it was considered a milestone for W Korea as it was the 20th anniversary of the event.
Members of BTS, aespa as well as IVE were seen in attendance alongside actors such as Byeon Woo-seok.
While the pictures and videos of the event were shared widely on social media, it was pointed out that W Korea made little to no mention of breast cancer in the event’s socials instead tagging brands, posting outfits and asking idols such as aespa’s Karina to do TikTok challenges.
