The Weeknd’s KL presale sells out in two hours, fans gear up for next battle

KUALA LUMPUR, May 18 — The artiste presale tickets for the upcoming The Weeknd: After Hours Till Dawn in KL have officially sold out in just over two hours.

A brief check on its official ticketing website Go Live Asia stated that the artiste presale tickets, which began at 10am, were completely sold out by around 12.38pm, while organiser Live Nation Malaysia also announced the news on their social media.

“The Artiste Presale allocation is now fully sold out. Thank you for the incredible support!

“If you missed out, please join the Maybank Visa Credit Card presale at 10am tomorrow for another opportunity to secure tickets,” Go-Live Asia wrote on their site.

For those who didn’t manage to secure tickets today, fret not as there will be additional presale allocations happening in the next couple of days with the Maybank Visa Credit Card Presale scheduled for 10am on May 19 and the Live Nation Members’ Presale beginning on May 20 from 12pm onwards.

The general on sale is scheduled to begin on Thursday, May 21 from 11am onwards.

Scalpers and ticketing services floods social media

Just like any other big concert in Malaysia, scalpers and ticketing service providers are already flooding social media platforms such as X (formerly Twitter) and Threads, with some resellers listing tickets as early as 10.30am.

Although some of the resellers offered their tickets at the original price, several users, especially on X, asked interested buyers to send direct messages rather than disclose prices publicly.

Meanwhile, there was also an abundance of ticketing service providers offering their services even before the presale started, with several charging at least RM50 per ticket.

Screenshots from X and Threads show scalpers and ticketing service providers in action during the Artiste Presale this morning.

There were also a few accounts on X, believed to be ticketing service providers, flaunting their haul for the day, with at least one account sharing that they had secured a total of 71 tickets during the artiste presale alone.

Several of these ticketing service providers are still actively looking for customers for the upcoming presale battles.

Smooth shopping…for some

Despite the flocking of scalpers and ticketing service providers, several local fans still managed to secure their seats with some even applauding the ticketing website for its smooth transactions.

There were also a number of excited fans who expressed their delight after managing to secure tickets for the KL show.

“Alhamdulillah secured my tickets. First concert ever and with my husband as well.

“Everything went smoothly. The only tip I can give is to use LAN. I didn’t even enter the waiting room.

“Immediately queued at 10am sharp as I forgot to register for GoLive. Waited for 20 minutes and got the tickets,” Threads user Naddyuh said in a post.

“I’m literally crying! I was so scared I wouldn’t get tickets since I decided to battle for them solo today, but guess what?! I secured them! Yay,” Threads user n.ffayraa shared in a post.

However, there were also a few unlucky users on Threads who, despite opening multiple ticketing tabs on their devices, still couldn’t secure a single seat during the presale.

Aside from that, the artiste presale battle also saw some heartwarming moments among Threads users, where many fans helped each other out, especially with seating views.

This came after some fans took to the social media platform to ask about a certain section’s view, and many responded helpfully — with some even sharing photos from their past concert experiences.
