LOS ANGELES, June 24 — If anyone can make snapping plastic bricks look cool, it’s probably Keanu Reeves.

The John Wick star is heading into the Lego universe, with Deadline reporting that he is in talks to helm a new live-action hybrid Lego movie built around his character.

According to the entertainment outlet, the 61-year-old has given the project the thumbs-up after weeks of negotiations, setting up a reunion with his Toy Story 4 director, Josh Cooley.

The untitled movie will combine live-action and animation.

For Reeves, it’s a return to familiar toy territory. He voiced the scene-stealing Canadian stuntman Duke Caboom in 2019’s Toy Story 4, also directed by Cooley.

If the deal goes through, Reeves will become the latest A-lister to help usher Lego back to the big screen. The franchise launched with 2014’s The Lego Movie before spawning a sequel in 2019 and spin-offs including The Lego Batman Movie and The Lego Ninjago Movie.

The reported casting also adds to Reeves’ growing animation résumé.

He is also set to voice the title character in Hidari, a stop-motion samurai epic directed by Masashi Kawamura. Inspired by the Japanese legend of master craftsman Jingoro Hidari, the film follows a one-armed artisan who fashions mechanical prosthetic limbs as he seeks revenge after a devastating betrayal.

“I’m thrilled by the vision behind Hidari,” Reeves said in a statement.

“From the proof of concept to the developed script, the team has created something truly extraordinary. It has all the makings of an exceptional film — one I’m excited to see and eager to be part of. I believe this project has the potential to bring something very special to audiences worldwide.”

An official announcement has yet to be made, but if Deadline’s report proves accurate, Reeves’ next action sequence may involve flying Lego bricks instead of flying assassins.
