Indonesian pop charmer Afgan brings his ‘Retrospektif’ journey to Zepp KL in December

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 — Popular Indonesian singer Afgan will reconnect with his loyal fans through the Afgan Retrospektif Showcase at Zepp Kuala Lumpur this December, in a more casual and intimate setting.

Afgan, whose full name is Afgansyah Reza, said in a statement that the show — scheduled for Dec 5 — coincides with the launch of his latest album Retrospektif, which reflects his life and career journey over the past several years.

“The meaning of ‘Retrospective’ for me is a moment to look back at what has happened in the past and turn it into lessons to continue growing into a better person.

“This new album truly represents that idea. I’ve reflected on my life journey over the past few months, learned from the growth that has taken place, and as a result, this album was born,” he said.

Expressing excitement about sharing his new songs with Malaysian fans, Afgan said the album also holds sentimental value as it is his first full Indonesian-language album in seven years.

“This album feels like a return to the genre that made my name — Indonesian Pop. It’s been a while since I created something like this, so Retrospektif feels like the perfect title and a turning point in my career,” said the 36-year-old heartthrob.

Promising an unforgettable performance, Afgan said he hopes each song he performs will carry its own meaning and memory for his Malaysian fans, as it will be their first time hearing these works live.

“I truly appreciate my musical journey that has become part of my fans’ lives here — whether during moments of happiness or sadness. What matters most is when my songs can give them strength to face life with optimism and positivity,” he added.
