KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 25 — Hong Kong actor Mat Yeung’s newly opened roast meat restaurant in Petaling Jaya has been temporarily closed by the city council over alleged licensing and premises-related breaches.

The SS2 restaurant was ordered to stop operating from 1pm on August 24, with a closure notice placed outside the premises, The Straits Times reported citing The Star/Asia News Network.

The eatery, which officially opened on August 14, said on social media that the closure was temporary and apologised to customers for the disruption.

It said the authorities had found that part of its kitchen was occupying an area designated as public space.

“Following the authorities’ instructions, we will close for two days to make the necessary adjustments before resuming normal operations on August 26,” the restaurant said.

Yeung, 45, also addressed the closure in an interview with Sing Tao Headline, saying the authorities had found items placed in the back alley behind the restaurant.

“Perhaps we had too many things after the opening, so some of them were placed at the back. The authorities said that was not allowed and asked us to move everything back to the warehouse. We should be able to resume business the day after tomorrow,” he said.

The restaurant is Yeung’s first foray into the local food business and reflects a long-held ambition to operate a traditional Hong Kong-style roast meat eatery.

The TVB actor has been actively involved in running the outlet since its launch, including serving customers and helping with daily operations when his filming schedule permits.

Yeung recently attracted attention in Malaysia after marrying his long-time girlfriend, Malaysian model Lisa Ch’ng, in a lavish ceremony at a five-star hotel in Kuala Lumpur on August 2.

The couple’s wedding came shortly before the restaurant opened its doors to the public.
