KUALA LUMPUR, May 21 — Che Puan Sarimah Ibrahim remains one of Malaysia’s most recognisable entertainment figures, with a career spanning decades as a television host, radio presenter, actress and singer.
Despite her success, the veteran entertainer continues to seek roles that challenge her creatively and broaden her artistic range.
Her latest projects include Pewaris Susuk, where she plays Seroja, and Konspirasi, in which she stars as Datuk Suraya.
In an interview with Malay Mail, Che Puan stressed the importance of education for aspiring entertainers.
“I said the same thing I said to myself — don’t stop studying and always get your education.”
She said lifelong learning has always been a priority for her, including studying Psychology and pursuing a degree alongside other educational pursuits.
“Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.
“Make sure you complete your education before going into the arts.”
She acknowledged that while other countries may operate on a larger global scale, Malaysia’s entertainment industry is comparatively smaller, making it important to remain realistic and grounded when setting targets.
Che Puan also cautioned against burnout, noting that the entertainment industry can be physically, mentally and emotionally demanding.
“You have to be really prepared before going in so that you don’t fall into things like addiction or depression.
“Jobs are scarce, and opportunities come and go, so you need to make sure you have something to fall back on,” she added, emphasising the importance of education.
She concluded that resilience, preparation and realistic expectations are essential for aspiring entertainers navigating an industry where opportunities can be unpredictable and short-lived.
Over the years, Che Puan Sarimah Ibrahim has earned praise for her emotionally grounded and convincing performances on screen.
Konspirasi, now showing in cinemas nationwide, further highlights her versatility as an actress.
She described the film as carrying a sincere and meaningful message about love for Malaysia without relying on clichés.
